This year marks the 11th issue of the ESVA Chamber of Commerce’s Essentials magazine. This magazine is not only the perfect guide for anyone planning to relocate to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, but for anyone who already lives here or is planning to visit. The articles include everything from small town locations to county regulations and everything in between.
You can get more information and view the complete guide online on the ESVA Chamber’s website or you can call them at 757-787-2460 to get a copy mailed to you.
Oh… and this year’s edition is extra special for me because I kind of know the little guy on the cover personally… I’ve sneaked him in between the pages for several years now (one of the perks of being the designer) but this is the first year that he’s actually graced the cover. 😉
As with every issue, all the photographs are local and donated by the photographers. If you happen to have any local photos, feel free to contact me and I’ll be happy to share them with our committee for consideration in future issues.
The Bout-of-Books Read-a-thon winner this time was Ticiana. I got to help her come up with a design for her Twitter page. She wanted something that combined her love of reading and music. I think we came up with something that works pretty well. What do you think?
Another year, another Chincoteague Island Visitor’s Guide. This year’s edition has 4 additional pages and a couple of other updates as well. You can view the 2015 edition online here. Or you can call the Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce office at 757-336-6161 to have a copy mailed to you. Better yet, stop by their office located in the middle of the traffic circle on Maddox Blvd. You can learn more about the 2014 Happiest Seaside Town in America on their website at www.ChincoteagueChamber.com
One of my favorite things about Bout-of-Books (besides the reading and meeting new bloggers and having fun) is coming up with something creative with the Grand Prize Winner each time. Beth, from Beth’s Books won the Grand Prize during Bout-of-Books 10.0 and she decided to let me help her dress up her blog. She was easy to work with and pretty much knew exactly what she wanted. So, what did we come up with? Lots and lots of cool stuff.
Beth wanted everything to match, so we started from scratch. First we worked on the header for her blog:
Then we worked on icons to match. She now has Twitter, Goodreads and Tumblr icons to help people find her other hang-outs 😉
And to make sure everyone recognizes her wherever that may be, she now has a new avi that she can use wherever she needs to. Be sure and stop by her blog and congratulate her on winning and let her know what you think. She’s anxious to show off all her cool new artwork. 🙂
That’s right. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of Essentials. This year also marks my 8th year designing this publication. Essentials serves as a relocation guide for people considering moving to the Eastern Shore of Virginia as well as providing ‘essential’ information to current residents. Even if you have no plans to move to the area and are just stopping by for a visit, it’s a great way to learn more about this unique location. You can pick up a copy at many local businesses, visitor centers or at the Chamber office in Melfa. If you’re not going to be in the area any time soon, feel free to leave me a comment or send me a message with your address and I’ll make sure you get one.
I love helping people dress up their blogs, especially when they are just starting out. That’s exactly where Joe is now. He’s just starting out with his movie review blog and he’s off to a fine start. He now has a brand new blog header, a new avi and some nifty review rating popcorn graphics to go with it. Take a peek at what Joe’s been up to and give him some words of encouragement. You might even find a new movie to watch while you’re there 😉
